And the general election in Indonesia starts from today on ....

On 14th January 2013, KPU held a meeting to announce the political party number who will contest for general election 2014. Once they got the number, they can hold campaign and disseminate their number to the public and their own constituents until 5th April 2014. For the campaign rally, however, there is a certain period.

There are 10 political parties will take part in upcoming election 9th April 2014 according to verification announcement last week. They are:
1.  Partai Nasional Demokrat (Nasdem) or National Democrat Party
2.  Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa (PKB) or National Awakening Party
3.  Partai Kesejahteraan Sosial (PKS)or Prosperous Justice Party
4.  Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan (PDIP) or Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle
5.  Party Golongan Karya (Golkar) or Golkar Party
6.  Party Gerakan Indonesia raya (Gerindra) or Great Indonesia Movement Party
7.  Party Demokrat (PD) or Democratic Party
8.  Partai Amanat Nasional (PAN) or National Mandate Party

Meanwhile, Aceh has 3 additional local parties that will compete together with national parties. They are
11.  Partai Damai Aceh (PDA) or Aceh Peace Party
12.  Partai Nasional Aceh (PNA) or Aceh National Party
13.  Partai Aceh (PA) or Aceh Party

Prominent Indonesian Poet, Mr. Taufik Ismail read his reflection on Election 1955, the first election in Indonesia and through his poems he sent moral messages to the political parties who will compete.

Outside of the KPU office, supporters of some political parties celebrated the announcement with showing some traditional performance. It’s wondered me, when I saw this performance, the supporters put already their own numbers on the flags, on the hats and on the T-shirts. They already prepared all the things in 10 numbers.
